Im Laborbereich werden häufig Lösungen erwärmt. Dieser Arbeitsschritt kann durch unterschiedliche Techniken stattfinden z.B. im Wasser- oder Sandbad, mithilfe einer Heizhaube oder klassisch unter Verwendung eines Bunsenbrenners. Wird als Heizquelle der Bunsenbrenner verwendet, empfiehlt sich die Verwendung eines Statives bzw. Vierkantfusses und einer entsprechenden Glaskeramikplatte. Das zuerwärmende Gefäß wird auf die Glaskeramikplatte gestellt, der Bunsenbrenner darunter.
Verschmutzungen der Glaskeramikplatte können mit Hilfe des Reinigungsschabers entfernt werden.
